Some things happened this year that have never happened before. It rained on our parade, and our University City fire truck had to leave on a true emergency!
So, we started on our parade without our star attraction. We were a bit soggy and a bit disappointed, but we marched on like good July fourth troupers would.
Then, after we had trekked only a few minutes, we looked up Kingsbury Ave. to see flashing lights and heard a siren wail. There was the Olivette Fire and Rescue crew arriving to save the day! We had our Parade Grand Marshall after all! They led us on our planned route and all was good.
It didn’t even rain that much.
